Game Nights can be so much fun, but when you have kids ranging from toddlers all the way to pre-teens, what can you play that they all will enjoy?
Here are 3 games that have worked well for my family and we love to pull out anytime.
Who doesn’t LOVE Candy Land? I can tell you all ages do, even adults. Rainbow pathways, candy forests, and more. The entire game revolves around candy………. A kids dream come true! It is all super fun and will have your whole family laughing together.
Here is a little history about Candy Land you might find interesting and want to share with your kids. Candy Land was invented by a schoolteacher named Eleanor Abbott in 1948, while recuperating in a polio ward in San Diego, Ca. She noticed that the children, who were separated from their parents were experiencing separation anxiety. So she invented the game to make the kids feel happy. All the game required was that the players be able to recognize colors and be able to count to 2. It did not require adult supervision and could be played easily. The Cherry Pitts and Molasses Swamp acted as gently delays prolonging the ending of the game and kept the kids happy and entertained.
What a wonderful game that has lasted through the decades!
Again, a great game for all ages. All you need to be able to do is recognize colors or numbers through 9. We have been playing UNO since my son was 3. The only drawback for the younger kids is that their little hands have a hard time holding cards. But have no fear, here is a great idea to help the little ones hold their cards. Use a chip clip. Insert the cards into the holder and you don’t have to worry about constantly picking up dropped cards!
This classic game is much like a cross between checkers and tick-tack-toe. If your child has mastered tick-tac-toe, they are ready to move on to Connect Four. Just get four colors in a row and you win! When my son was younger, he loved to just drop the colored disks into the holes until they were full. Then he could hit the release button and watch them fall.
So, what are you waiting for? Get one of these 3 games, clear off a table, and have a little fun with the whole family!
Do you have any games your family likes to play? If you do, I would love to hear about them!
